The art of weaving is woven into the soul of the municipality, with Spanish missionaries noting that the industry predates their occupation. From the Bisaya derivative habol (blanket), Hablon means to completely cover something with a piece of cloth. But the Hablon has proven to suit more than just blankets, with many of our apparel items incorporating the weave. Plaid designs distinguish themselves by being both simple and yet slightly more complex to weave than the usual stripe pattern. The plaid weave depicted here is the take on the classic design by the weavers of Argao in Cebu province.
